Water, water everywhere

Jouluaattoaamuna havaittiin, että Kuunsillan kerhotilan wc-pöntön tulovesiputkesta valui vettä lattialle. Päivystävä putkimies kävi sulkemassa wc-pöntön vedentulon. Pönttö on siis tilapäisesti pois käytöstä.

Kerhotilan viemärit vetävät kyllä, joten veden kaatamista viemäriin ei tarvitse pelätä. S-rapun saunan pukuhuoneessa on toinen wc, jota saunojat voivat käyttää.

Asukastoimikunta muistuttaa kaikkia asukkaita siitä, että G4S:n päivystysnumero 0204 28 2000 auttaa kaikkina vuorokaudenaikoina, myös jouluna. Jos vesijohto vuotaa niin paljon, että vettä valuu myös viereisen huoneen lattialle, kannattaa soittaa päivystykseen heti. Jos puolestaan vian korjaaminen voi odottaa seuraavaan työpäivään, kannattaa tehdä vikailmoitus.

A leak in the water intake pipe in the toilet of Kuunsilta Common Room was noticed on Christmas Eve morning. Since there was water on the floor, the maintenance man on duty was called to close the water flow of the toilet. The toilet is temporarily out of use.

Luckily, there is nothing blocking the drains in the Common Room, so it's safe to pour water down the drain. There is another toilet in the dressing room of the sauna, which you can use if you are going to sauna.

Tenants' Committee would like to remind all tenants that G4S service number 0204 28 2000 works at all times, even on Christmas. If you spot a problem that must be fixed right away, like water flowing to the floor of the next room too, you should call them immediately. But if you spot a problem that you can deal with until the next working day, make a notice of defects.

Pilvilinnan kierrätyspiste suljettu toistaiseksi

TYS:n eri kohteissa on suljettu kierrätyspisteitä luteiden leviämisen estämiseksi. Myös Pilvilinnassa on tehty muutama ludehavainto, ja siksi 7I-rapun kierrätyspiste on toistaiseksi suljettu.

Luteiden torjunta kotikonstein on vaikeaa. Luteet kestävät -10 C pakkasta. Luteet kuolevat 60 C:n lämpötilassa, mutta väärin tehty ludesauna pahentaa tilannetta: jos luteet pääsevät pudottautumaan kuumilta lauteilta alas lattialle, ne eivät kuole, ja voivat levitä eteenpäin. Tämän vuoksi ludetorjunta TYS:n yleisissä saunoissa on kielletty.

Mitä nopeammin luteet pysäytetään, sitä helpommaksi ja halvemmaksi niiden torjunta tulee. Jos huomaat asunnossasi luteita, tee viivyttelemättä vikailmoitus, ja sen jälkeen ammattilaiset huolehtivat asiasta sinun puolestasi. Jos teet vikailmoituksen heti, se ei maksa sinulle mitään. Jos et tee vikailmoitusta ajoissa, voit joutua maksamaan siitä, että luteet ehtivät levitä koko talon riesaksi.

Recycling rooms in many TYS locations have been closed to stop the spreading of bed bugs. Some bed bugs have been spotted in Pilvilinna, too, and that is why the recycling room in 7I is temporarily closed.

It is difficult to get rid of bed bugs on your own. The bugs can survive -10 C temperature. They will die if the temperature is over 60 C, but if you try to kill them in sauna, and do it wrong, it makes things worse: if the bed bugs can drop down on the cool floor, they will not die, and can spread forward. That is why it is not allowed to use the saunas of TYS to control bed bugs.

The sooner we stop the bed bugs, the less trouble they will cause, and the cheaper it will be. If you notice bed bugs in your apartment, make a notice of defects immediately. The professionals will take care of everything then. If you make the notice of defects right away, it will cost you nothing. If you postpone making the notice until there are bed bugs in the whole house, you may have to pay for it.

Parempi kuntosali // Upgrading gym

Asukastoimikunta hankki puoli vuotta sitten Kuunsillan kerhohuoneelle monikäyttöisen kuntosalilaitteen, ja nyt samanlainen laite on saatu myös Pilvilinnan 9L-talon kerhotilaan.

Seuraavaksi aiomme hankkia molempiin kerhotiloihin muita kuntoiluvälineitä, esimerkiksi käsipainosarjan ja jumppamaton. Välineitä varten on tarkoitus hankkia kaappi, jossa on numerokoodilukko. Asukastoimikunta kertoo koodin niille asukkaille, jotka rekisteröityvät kuntosalin käyttäjiksi - eli ilmoittavat yhteystietonsa ja lupaavat pitää välineistä hyvää huolta. Rekisteröityneet käyttäjät pääsevät siis käyttämään kuntoiluvälineitä milloin haluavat, kunhan eivät aiheuta melua hiljaisuuden aikana. Välineitä ei saa viedä pois kerhotilasta.

Jos asukastoimikunta keräisi pienen maksun jokaiselta rekisteröityvältä käyttäjältä, esimerkiksi 5 euroa vuodessa, rahoilla saataisiin enemmän ja monipuolisempia välineitä laitettavaksi kuntosalikaappiin. Tämän nettisivun oikeassa ylälaidassa on käynnissä kysely asukkaille: kannattaako kuntosalikaappia hankkia, ja kuinka moni olisi valmis sijoittamaan viisi euroa parempiin yhteisiin välineisiin? Hyviä välineitä voi ehdottaa tämän blogin kommenttiosastolla, facebookissa tai lähettämällä asukastoimikunnalle sähköpostia (tys.kuunsilta[at]gmail.com).

Asukastoimikunta käsittelee palautteen kokouksessaan tiistaina 18.12.2012, ja jos kuntoiluvälinekaappi saa asukkailta kannatusta, lähdemme ostoksille vielä joulukuun aikana. Kaikki Kuunsillan ja Pilvilinnan asukkaat ovat tervetulleita seuraamaan kokousta (klo 18 alkaen Pilvilinnan 9L-kerhotilassa).

The Tenants' Committee of Kuunsilta bought the versatile gym machine to the Common Room about six months ago, and now a similar machine has arrived to Pilvilinna 9L, too.

Next, we are going to buy some other sports equipment, for example a set of weights and dumbbells and an exercise mat for both Common Rooms. We plan to buy a cupboard with a number code lock to store the equipment. The Committee will set the code and inform those tenants who sign up as gym users - that means giving your contact information and promising to take good care of the equipment. Those who sign up will have access to the gym any time, just avoid making noise during silence. The equipment must be used in the Common Room, and it will not be allowed to take them home.

If the Committee collected a small amount of money from everyone who signs up, for example 5 euros per year, we could buy more and versatile equipment to the gym cupboard. There is an opinion poll going on in the upper right corner of this page, because we want your opinion: is it worthwhile to buy a gym cupboard, and would you invest 5 euros in better equipment? You may also suggest your favourite equipment by commenting here, or in facebook, or via email (tys.kuunsilta[at]gmail.com).

The Tenants' Committee will have a meeting on Tuesday, December 18 to decide whether we will go shopping for gym tools before New Year or not. All tenants of Kuunsilta and Pilvilinna are welcome to the meeting (starting at 6pm in Pilvilinna 9L).

Café Kuunsilta 17.11.2012 klo 11-17

Café Kuunsilta on avoinna TYS Kuunsillan kerhotilassa klo 11-17. Café Kuunsilta sijaitsee osoitteessa Ritzinkuja 1S, päiväkotirakennuksen yläkerrassa.

Eri myyjillä on tarjolla grilliruokaa, thai-lihapullia, focaccia-leipää, muffineja, kuppikakkuja ja kaurasämpylöitä, sekä kahvia ja teetä. Joitakin ruokia voi ostaa myös kotiinvietäväksi. Lämpimästi tervetuloa!

Café Kuunsilta is open in the Common Room of TYS Kuunsilta from 11am to 5pm. It is located in Ritzinkuja 1S, upstairs of the daycare.

There are several producers who sell grilled food, thai-meatballs, focaccia-bread, muffins, cupcakes and sandwiches, plus coffee and tea. Some food is also available for take away. Welcome!

The Tenants' Committee will advertise the event, but it is also allowed and recommended that sellers make their own ads, too.

Pre-Christmas party in the Common Room of Pilvilinna (building 9L), all tenants of Pilvilinna and Kuunsilta are welcome! We will decorate the Common Room together, warm up saunas for men and women and hang out in the Common Room. Tenants' Committee serves sweet and salty snacks and non-alcohol drinks. It is also allowed to bring your own drinks.

Ajanhallintaongelmia // Time management problems

Kerhotilan varauskalenteri näyttää tällä hetkellä virheellisiä tapahtumien alkamis- ja päättymisaikoja. Kerhotila varataan aina koko päiväksi, ja jostain syystä kalenteri tulkitsee, että koko päivä tarkoittaa aamuyöstä seuraavan päivän aamuyöhön. Vaikka kalenterin mukaan olisit varannut kerhotilan kolmeen asti aamulla, niin hiljaisuus alkaa silti kello 23 illalla!

Ilmeisesti kalenteri luulee olevansa väärällä aikavyöhykkeellä. Asukastoimikunta yrittää korjata tilanteen parhaan kykynsä mukaan. Jos olet ratkaissut saman ongelman aikaisemmin, olemme kiitollisia neuvoistasi.

The calendar of reservations in the Common Room displays wrong starting and ending times at the moment. The Common Room is always reserved for all day, and for some reason the calendar thinks that all day means from very early morning to very early morning the next day. But even if the calendar looks like you had booked the Common Room until 3 o'clock in the morning, remember that silence still begins at 11 o'clock in the evening!

The calendar probably thinks it's located on the wrong time zone. The Tenants' Committee is trying to fix this. If you have fixed a similar problem before, we will be thankful, if you can give us advice.

International gardening

Kuunsillan pyörävarastoista löytyy välineitä myös asukkaiden omatoimiseen pihanhoitoon. Välineitä on hankittu siksi, että lumipyryn jälkeen huoltomiehet eivät ehdi kaikkialle samaan aikaan. Kiireisimmät asukkaat voivat lapioida kulkuväylänsä auki itse, jos eivät malta odottaa, että lumiaura ehtii puhdistamaan pihaa. Välineitä löytyy eri pyöräsuojista, ja niitä saa käyttää vapaasti, kunhan palauttaa ne käytön jälkeen takaisin.

Jos osaat pihanhoitovälineiden nimet jollakin muulla kielellä, niin kommentoi kuvia ja kerro, miten näitä välineitä kutsutaan sinun kielelläsi! Voit myös ehdottaa asukastoimikunnalle, millaisilla välineillä varastoja pitäisi täydentää.

Some gardening and snow shoveling tools are available for tenants in the bike storages of Kuunsilta. When it snows a lot, the maintenance guys can't help everywhere at the same time. If you don't want to wait the snowplow to clean up the yard, take a shovel from the nearest bike storage and create a path for yourself. All tenants can use the tools, but please bring them back after using them.

If you know the names of these tools in some other language than Finnish and English, please leave your comments about the pictures and teach us the tools' names in your language! You can also suggest new tools to be bought by the Tenants' Committee.

Asukastoimikunta 2013 valittu

Pilvilinnan ja Kuunsillan yhteisessä asukkaiden kokouksessa valittiin yhteinen asukastoimikunta, joka aloittaa toimikautensa heti. Lähipäivinä päivitetään sähköpostilista pilvilinna[at]utu.fi, jonka kautta voi tavoittaa yhdellä viestillä koko asukastoimikunnan kaikki jäsenet. Lisäksi asukastoimikunnan avainhenkilöille hankitaan tarvittavat kerhotilojen ja varastojen avaimet niin pian kuin mahdollista.

Kunhan uusi asukastoimikunta saa rivinsä järjestykseen, tartumme asukkaiden kokouksessa esille nousseisiin asioihin: varustelemme kerhotiloja, kunnostamme grillipaikan ja kasvimaan ja selvitämme mistä pyykkivuoron hinta muodostuu. Ryhdymme myös suunnittelemaan syksyn seuraavia tapahtumia.

The Tenants' Meeting of Pilvilinna and Kuunsilta elected one joined Tenants' Committee. The new Committee will start functioning right away. During the next few days we will update the emailing list pilvilinna[at]utu.fi which reaches all members of the Committee. We will also get the necessary keys to Common Rooms and storage rooms as soon as possible.

As soon as the new Tenants' Committee gets organized, we will start working on topics that were presented in the Tenants' Meeting: upgrading both Common Rooms, fixing the BBQ spot and garden plots of Pilvilinna and finding out where the money of the laundry fees goes to. We will also start planning on the next events for the autumn.

We want you for Tenants' Committee

Vuoden 2013 asukastoimikunta valitaan Kuunsillan ja Pilvilinnan yhteisessä asukkaiden kokouksessa, joka pidetään Kuunsillan kerhotilassa maanantaina 1.10.2012 kello 18:30. Kokouksessa päätetään, perustetaanko Kuunsillalle ja Pilvilinnalle omat asukastoimikunnat, vai yksi yhteinen toimikunta. Lisäksi päätetään, alkaako uuden asukastoimikunnan toimikausi heti vai vasta 1.1.2013.

Asukastoimikunnan tehtävät määritellään yhteishallintolaissa, ja vinkkejä toimintaan löytyy Asumisen rahoitus- ja kehittämiskeskus ARA:n julkaisemista oppaista sekä Suomen opiskelija-asukkaiden neuvottelukunnan SOANK:n nettisivuilta. Asukastoimikunnalla on oikeus saada TYS:ltä tietoja ajankohtaisista asioista, osallistua isompien päätösten valmisteluun ja tehdä päätöksiä mm. kerhotilan käytöstä. TYS tukee asukastoimikuntien toimintaa määrärahalla, jonka suuruus on 220 € + 4 €/asukaspaikka. Kuunsillan asukastoimikunta saa siis ensi vuodeksi määrärahaa 1276 €, ja Pilvilinnan asukastoimikunta saa 1628 €.

Osaat pyytää ostoksistasi kuitin ja kirjoittaa siihen nimesi ja tilinumerosi. Voit tehdä ostoksia asukastoimikunnan tapahtumia varten.

Osaat keittää kahvia tai teetä, ja laittaa ruokaa tai avata keksipaketin. Voit huolehtia asukastoimikunnan kokoustarjoiluista tai perustaa ruuanlaittokerhon.

Naapureille jutteleminen saunassa ja postilaatikoilla on yhtä tärkeää kuin tämän blogin kirjoittaminen.

The Tenants' Committee 2013 will be elected in the Tenants' Meeting of Kuunsilta and Pilvilinna. The meeting will be held in the Common Room of Kuunsilta on Monday, October 1st, 2012 at 6:30pm. The meeting will decide whether there will separate Committees for Kuunsilta and Pilvilinna, or just one joined Committee. The meeting will also decide if the new Committee(s) will start working right away or on January 1st, 2013.

The tasks of Tenants' Committees are defined in the Law of Joint Management of Rental Buildings (link in Finnish). Other tips can be found in Finnish in the infoleaflets of ARA and on the website of SOANK (Suomen opiskelija-asukkaiden neuvottelukunta, the Advisory Board of Student Residents in Finland). TYS provides Tenants' Committees with information about current topics. Committees can participate in the preparation of some big decisions of TYS, and they can make some decisions themselves, eg. how to use the common rooms. TYS also supports Tenants' Committees with allowance money 220 € + 4 €/tenants accommodated. In Kuunsilta this means 1276 € and Pilvilinna 1628 € for 2013.

Do you want to be making decisions about how to use this money? You are just the right person for the Tenants' Committee, if at least one of the following descriptions fits you:

You know how to ask a receipt from a store, and you can write your name and bank account on the receipt. This means you can do shopping for the Tenants' Committee.

You can make coffee or tea, and you can cook food or open a pack of cookies. This means you can do catering for the Committee's meetings or start a cooking club.

You know something about gardening, gyms, tv-stereo-computer-sets or babysitting. We need your expertise to look after the garden plots and pear trees, to upgrade the Common Room and to organize events.

You can speak and write in some language: Finnish, English, Swedish, Russian, Vietnamese, Portuguese... The more languages we can use to explain someone how to make a notice of defects, the quicker all the defects will be fixed. It is equally important to communicate with your neighbours by talking to them in the sauna and near the mailboxes as by writing this blog.

You can do math: addition, subtraction, multiplication and percentages. This means you can keep track of how much allowance money is spent and how much is left. It is allowed to use a calculator and software.

You can write down what the meeting decided, and then you can send your notes via email. Please come to the meetings and be the secretary.

You can design info leaflets and advertisement. Or you have the time to put the leaflets on the notice boards. Or you can invite people by creating a facebook event.

You can find the right person to solve a problem that you don't have the expertise or time to solve yourself. This means you will be the perfect Chairperson.

If you identified yourself in at least one of these descriptions, come to the meeting and use your skills for the benefit of all your neighbours! If you would like to be elected member of the Tenants' Committee but can't come to the meeting on Monday, contact us (tys.kuunsilta[at]gmail.com) before the meeting and tell us about this.

Kuunsillan ja Pilvilinnan asukastoimikunnat järjestävät yhteistyössä tutustumisillan uusille ja vanhoille asukkaille keskiviikkona 26.9.2012. Ohjelmassa on ainakin sauna, lautapelejä ja hengailua Kuunsillan kerhotilassa. Asukastoimikunta tarjoaa pientä purtavaa. Kellonajoista tiedotetaan tarkemmin, kun ohjelma varmistuu.

Kuunsillan ja Pilvilinnan asukastoimikuntien yhteinen kokous pidetään maanantaina 1.10.2012 kello 18.30. Kokouksessa valmistellaan asukastoimikunnan lausuntoa TYS:n ensi vuoden budjetista ja vuokranmäärityksestä. Myös asukkaat voivat ehdottaa asioita asukastoimikunnan käsiteltäväksi.

Lokakuun alkupuolella järjestetään syksyn asukaskokous. Asukaskokouksessa valitaan vuoden 2013 asukastoimikunta, ja voidaan ehdottaa asukkaiden edustajia TYS:n hallitukseen ja valtuuskuntaan kaudelle 2013-2015. Asukaskokouksessa voidaan myös ehdottaa TYS:n tilintarkastajaa vuodeksi 2013. Jos sinulla on mielipide siitä, mitä asukastoimikunnan pitäisi ensi vuonna tehdä, tai kuka sopisi edustamaan asukkaiden näkökulmaa TYS:n päätöksenteossa, tule kertomaan se asukaskokoukseen! Jos et pääse paikalle kokouspäivänä, voit myös ilmoittaa mielipiteesi asukastoimikunnalle sähköpostitse ennen kokousta.

Seuraava Ravintolapäivä järjestetään 17.11.2012. Asukastoimikunta tarjoaa jälleen kerhotilan halukkaiden ravintoloitsijoiden käyttöön.

Tenants' Committees of Kuunsilta and Pilvilinna are organizing an event for new and old tenants to get to know each other. The event will be held in the evening on Wednesday, September 26. There will be sauna, board games and hanging out in the Common Room of Kuunsilta. Tenants' Committee will serve snacks. The exact time of the event will be annonced as soon as we know our plans better.

A meeting of Tenants' Committees of Kuunsilta and Pilvilinna will be held on Monday, October 1 at 6.30pm. The Tenants' Committees will plan on forming an opinion about TYS's budget and prices of rents in 2013. All tenants may also suggest topics that Tenants' Committees should discuss.

There will be a general All Tenants' Meeting in the beginning of October (but we haven't decided the date yet). The All Tenants' Meeting will elect members for the Tenants' Committee of 2013 and may suggest members to the Administrative Board of TYS for 2013-2015 and an auditor of TYS for 2013. If you have an opinion about what the Tenants' Committee should do next year, or who would be the perfect person to speak from the tenants' point of view in the Administrative Board of TYS, make sure you tell it in the All Tenants' Meeting! If you can't come to the meeting, you can tell your opinion to the Tenants' Committee before the meeting via email.

The next Restaurant Day will be held on November 17. The Tenants' Committee of Kuunsilta will open the door of the Common Room, so the room can serve as a restaurant.

Saunapäivä // It's sauna time

TYS uudistaa saunavarausjärjestelmänsä syksyn aikana - asukastoimikunnille kerrotaan lisätietoja lokakuussa. Asukastoimikunnat voivat myös järjestää asukkaille ilmaisia lenkkisaunavuoroja. Kuunsillassa on tähän asti ollut lenkkisauna keskiviikkoisin L-rapun saunalla, tytöt klo 19-21 ja pojat klo 21-23.

Lenkkisaunoja voidaan järjestää lisää, jos niille on paljon käyttöä. Tyhjää saunaa ei kannata lämmittää: kiuas kuluttaa paljon sähköä, ja saunan puurakenteet kärsivät, jos saunaa lämmitetään kuivana. Maanantaisin on saunojen huoltopäivä, ja siksi niitä ei lämmitetä maanantaisin lainkaan.

Asukastoimikunta järjestää syksyn aikana Kuunsillan asukkaille kyselyn, milloin olisi hyvä aika tavata naapureita saunalla. Voit vastata kyselyyn tämän blogin oikeassa reunassa, S-rapun kerhotilan ruutuvihkossa, pesulassa tai L-rapun saunalla. Lisää ehdotuksia otetaan vastaan kommenttiosastolla: haluaisitko naisten ja miesten sekasaunan vai erillisvuorot, ja mikä kellonaika on sopiva? Tulosten perusteella yritämme järjestää saunavuorot niin, että ne sopivat asukkaille mahdollisimman hyvin.

TYS is about to reorganize the sauna reservation system in the end of the year - tenants' committees expect to get more information about this in October. Tenants' committees can also arrange free joggers' saunas. The free joggers' sauna in Kuunsilta has been on Wednesdays in building L, girls from 7pm to 9pm and boys from 9pm to 11pm.

We can arrange more free joggers' saunas if plenty of people will use them. There is no point in heating an empty sauna: the stove consumes lots of electricity, and even worse, the wooden benches can't tolerate dry hot air for long. Mondays are reserved for maintenance, and that's why the saunas are not heated on Mondays.

Tenants' Committee of Kuunsilta is conducting a survey about everybody's favourite sauna time. You can answer the survey questions on the right side bar, in the notebook in the hall of building S, in the laundry room or in the sauna of building L. You can also leave a message in the comment section: are separate shifts for women and men better than a mixed sauna, and what time is too early and what's too late? We will use the results to arrange as good sauna times as possible.

Hedelmäpuut on istutettu

Kuunsillan asukkaat istuttivat 22.-23.8. kaksi omenapuuta ja kaksi päärynäpuuta sisäpihalle, isoimman pyöräkatoksen pylväiden eteen. Puiden tuottama sato on tarkoitettu kaikkien Kuunsillan asukkaiden nautittavaksi. Puut on suojattu verkoilla, jotta jänikset ja rusakot eivät söisi niiden kuorta.

Tenants of Kuunsilta planted two apple trees and two pear trees on August 22 and 23 in front of the columns of the biggest bike storage. All tenants of Kuunsilta will be allowed to enjoy the fruits. There are nets around the trees to protect them from hungry rabbits.

Help wanted!

Kuunsillan asukastoimikunta aikoo istuttaa pihalle muutamia omena- ja päärynäpuun taimia. Istutamme puut keskiviikkona 22.8. kello 18 alkaen. TYS järjestää työvälineet, asukastoimikunta ostaa taimet ja kaikki halukkaat pääsevät lapioimaan. Mitä useampi asukas tulee auttamaan, sitä nopeammin työ tulee valmiiksi.

Kaikille asukkaille avoin lenkkisauna lämpenee sopivasti keskiviikkoisin (tytöt 19-21, pojat 21-23, L-rappu). Tervetuloa istutustalkoisiin, tai saunaan, tai molempiin!

Kuunsillan pihalla ja talojen ympärillä on jo muutamia hedelmää tekeviä omenapuita. Osa on koristeomenapuita, joiden omenat ovat pienempiä ja happamampia kuin tavalliset omenat. Uskallatko jakaa parhaat omenareseptisi myös naapureiden tietoon? Oletko ottanut valokuvia Kuunsillan omenapuista? Toivomme kuvia facebook-sivullemme tai linkkejä muille kuvasivustoille, jos et halua ladata kuviasi facebookiin.

Toivomme myös linkkivinkkejä hyväksi havaittuihin omenapuiden hoito-ohjeisiin, koska asukastoimikunta joutuu nyt opettelemaan, miten puita hoidetaan seuraavina vuosina.

Tenants' Committee of Kuunsilta is going to plant some apple and pear saplings on Wednesday, August 22, starting at 6pm. TYS will bring us some tools, the Committee will buy the saplings and everyone is welcome to help with the digging. The more people come and help, the sooner it will be done.

The free joggers' sauna is also heated every Wednesday (girls 7 to 9pm, boys 9 to 11pm in building L). Everyone is welcome to the sauna, or planting, or both!

There are already some apple trees producing fruit around Kuunsilta. Some of them are crabapples whose fruit is small and sour compared with other apples. Do you dare to share your best apple recipes with your neighbors? Have you taken photos of the trees in Kuunsilta? We wish you share your photos on our facebook page or via a link to other websites, if you don't want to use facebook.

We also wish you share your gardening tips and recommended websites about cultivating apple trees, as the Tenants' Committee has to learn to keep the trees alive.

Ravintolapäivä // Restaurant Day 19.8.2012

Seuraava ravintolapäivä järjestetään sunnuntaina 19.8.2012. Asukastoimikunta tarjoaa S-rapun kerhotilan ravintolakäyttöön: kuka tahansa TYS:n asukas voi tulla kerhotilaan myymään itse valmistamiaan ruokia. Avaamme ovet myyjille klo 10 ja yleisölle klo 11.

Asukastoimikunta varaa itselleen yksinoikeuden myydä kahvia. Alkoholin myyminen ja tarjoileminen on kielletty. Mitä tahansa muuta ruokaa, makeaa tai suolaista, saa myydä. Myyjät päättävät itse hintansa ja saavat pitää myyntivoittonsa.

Kerhotilassa on jääkaappi, tiskipöytä ja pieni hella. Keittiö voi ruuhkautua, joten jos myyjiä on paljon, kannattaa valmistaa mahdollisimman suuri osa ruoista kotona. Kerhotilassa on muutamia pöytiä ja astioita, mutta myös omia astioita saa tuoda.

Asukastoimikunta ei peri myyjiltä maksua myyntipaikasta, mutta odotamme kaikkien osallistuvan kerhotilan loppusiivoukseen ravintolapäivän jälkeen. Asukastoimikunta mainostaa tapahtumaa ilmoitustauluilla ja internetissä, ja myyjät saavat halutessaan mainostaa myös itsenäisesti. Mainostusta varten toivomme myyjien ilmoittavan etukäteen, minkätyyppistä ruokaa aiotaan valmistaa.

Restaurant Day will be held again on Sunday, August 19. Tenants' Committee of Kuunsilta opens the door of the Common Room (building S, upstairs) for pop-up restaurants: any tenant of Student Village Foundation (TYS) may come and sell home made food. Sellers are welcome to start at 10am and customers at 11am.


Tenants' Committee is the only one who sells coffee. Alcohol is not allowed. Any other food, sweet or salty, is allowed. Every seller decides their own prices and keeps the money themselves. 


There is a fridge, a sink and a small stove available in the Common Room. If there are lots of sellers, it's recommended to prepare the food at home as much as possible to avoid jamming the kitchen. There are some tables and dishes available, but it is also allowed to bring your own.


Tenants' Committee charges no fees from the sellers, but we expect all sellers to help cleaning up after the event. Tenants' Committee will advertise Restaurant Day on notice boards and internet, and sellers are also allowed to advertise more if they want to. Please tell us what type of food you plan to sell, to help us advertise! Sign up via email (tys.kuunsilta[at]gmail.com).

Kuunsilta Gym

Kuunsillan kerhotilan aulassa on nyt kuntoilulaite, joka on tarkoitettu kaikkien asukkaiden käyttöön. Käsipainosarja on tulossa myöhemmin tänä vuonna. Kuntoileminen ei maksa mitään, eikä vuoroja tarvitse varata etukäteen.

Otattehan kuitenkin huomioon, että kerhotila voi olla varattuna juhlia varten, ja vältätte kuntoilua juhlien aikaan. Ystävällisyydellä, joustavuudella ja maalaisjärjellä saamme kaikki mahdollisimman paljon iloa kuntoilulaitteesta.

Ilmoittakaa asukastoimikunnalle, jos huomaatte kuntoilulaitteessa jotain vikaa, jota ette osaa itse korjata.

The gym in the entrance hall of the common room is for all tenants of Kuunsilta. A set of weights will be coming later this year. No money and no reservations are needed for using the gym.


Please note that the common room is sometimes reserved for parties, though, and avoid using the gym during parties. Use a friendly and flexible attitude with common sense, to enjoy the gym as much as possible.

Flea market 12.5.2012

TYS aikoo vuonna 2012 uudistaa saunavarausjärjestelmänsä, koska asukkaat pitävät nykyistä järjestelmää hankalana. Asukastoimikuntien tehtävänä on kerätä asukkailta palautetta ja toiveita siitä, millainen uuden saunavarausjärjestelmän pitäisi olla. Asukastoimikuntien keräämän palautteen perusteella TYS tilaa joltain ohjelmistosuunnittelijalta uuden saunavarausjärjestelmän.

Miten sinä haluaisit varata saunavuorosi? Haluatko varata viikosta toiseen toistuvan vakiovuoron, vai haluatko varata saunan sillä hetkellä, kun mieleesi tulee, että tänä iltana olisi kiva saunoa? Tarvitaanko saunoille nykyistä tarkempaa kulunvalvontaa? Onko parempi maksaa jokaisesta saunotusta tunnista erikseen, vai ostaisitko mieluummin kiinteällä kuukausimaksulla oikeuden saunoa niin paljon kuin ehdit? TYS is going to reorganize the sauna reservation system in 2012, because many tenants think the current system is difficult to use. Tenants' committees are collecting feedback and ideas about tenants' wishes for the new sauna reservation system. Based on the feedback collected by all tenants' committees, TYS will order a new system from some software designer.


How do you want to make a sauna reservation? Do you want a regular sauna shift at the same time every week, or do you want to reserve the sauna instantly when you think "I'd like to go to sauna tonight"? Is there need for better security control? Is it better to pay by how much you use the sauna, or would you rather pay a monthly amount of money for unlimited sauna hours? What else do wish? We have set the date for Flea Market: Saturday, May 12th, 2012. Come to the Common Room in building S to sell your old stuff or buy something you need!


We will also buy gym equipment to the entrance hall of the Common Room and plant apple trees that all tenants can enjoy, if we find a good spot for the trees. You can take magazines home with you or come to the Common Room to read them. You can bring them back later or keep the most interesting magazines. Thank you for keeping the shelf neat and avoiding mess!

Sauna

Kuunsillassa on kaksi saunaa, L-rapussa ja S-rapussa. Asukkaat voivat varata omia saunavuoroja TYS:n nettisivujen kautta.

Ilmainen lenkkisaunavuoro järjestetään keskiviikkoisin L-rapun saunassa: tytöt klo 19-21 ja pojat klo 21-23. Onko lenkkisaunan ajankohta mielestäsi oikea? Tarvittaisiinko lenkkisauna myös jonakin toisena päivänä? Jätä kommentti tänne tai lähetä ehdotuksesi asukastoimikunnalle (tys.kuunsilta@gmail.com).

There are two saunas in Kuunsilta, located in staircases L and S. Tenants can reserve saunas for their own use via TYS website. 


A free joggers' sauna is organized every Wednesday in sauna L: girls at 7pm to 9pm and boys at 9pm to 11pm. Do you think this time works? Do you think there is need for another free joggers' sauna some other day? Please leave your comment here or send email to the tenants' committee (tys.kuunsilta@gmail.com).

Next meeting

Haluatko osallistua asukastoimikunnan seuraavaan kokoukseen? Kokouksessa päätetään, mitä tavaroita kerhotilaan hankitaan ja mitä tapahtumia asukastoimikunta järjestää. Kokous pidetään maaliskuun lopussa, ja parhaiten sopivaa päivää voit äänestää doodlessa. Äänestys päättyy ja valittu päivä julkistetaan sunnuntaina 18.3.2012. Kokouspaikka on kerhotila, S-rappu, päiväkodin yläkerrassa.

Do you want to be present in the next meeting of the tenants' committee? In the meeting we will decide what items we shall buy for the Common Room and what events the committee will organize. The meeting will be held in the end of March, and you can vote for the best day for the meeting via doodle (Monday to Friday, always at 6 pm). The last day to vote is Sunday, March 18th, and the day for the meeting will be published then. The meeting will be held in the Common Room, staircase S, upstairs of the daycare.
